HEA Offers Three-Credit PDE3 Course on Artificial Intelligence
Educators across Hawaii all value opportunities to learn about new, emerging subjects that can enhance their teaching. HEA recognizes their commitment to professional development and is now offering PDE3 credits.
More Value for HEA Members
This is a new, exciting step for HEA to offer more value for our members and other educators, and ensures a great return when they invest their time and energy in a course. Dr. Lynn Hammonds, HEA’s Program Manager, worked closely with the Department of Education so that participants could earn PDE3 credits that, in turn, provide tangible benefits and allow educators to be better positioned for future growth opportunities.
A New Course on AI
The course title, “Introduction to Generative Technology (AI) in K-12 Schools: Understanding the Hottest Topic in Ed Tech,” will be led by Fred Lane. The course will be from June 3 to August 9. Portfolios are due July 19.
This course will empower K-12 educators across all content areas to better guide students in navigating the complex and rapidly-changing landscape of generative AI. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of generative technology, explore its classroom applications, and develop strategies to foster responsible and ethical AI use by students and educators.
Fred Lane, JD,is one of the nation’s foremost experts on artificial intelligence. He is the author of 10 books, including “Cybertraps for Educators 2.0.” He has been a keynote speaker for the Hawaii Education Association, AARP Hawaii, Hawaii State Teachers Association, Hawaii Teacher Standards Board, and University of Hawaii-Manoa.
The response to this course was overwhelmingly positive and is now full, but watch for future dates of this course.
