Mahalo to Janice Bond for 10 Years of Service

On behalf of HEA’s members, the Board of Directors and staff, we extend our sincerest mahalo to Janice Bond who will be concluding her term on the board on June 30, 2021. Mrs. Bond has generously served 10 years on our board, and was a member of the Finance, Scholarship and TAAC Committees. We are grateful for her efforts on Kauai to recruit new members, find TAAC advisors and encourage so many students to become teachers. For the past several years, Mrs. Bond has represented HEA at our booth at the Kauai Chapter HSTA Teacher Institute Day. We wish Mrs. Bond the very best in her future endeavors. She will continue to serve as a member of HEA’s Scholarship Committee.

HEA Welcomes Jonathan Medeiros as New Director

Mr. Medeiros has taught at Kauai High School for over 15 years. During his time at Kauai High, he has held various positions including ELA department head, Gay-Straight Alliance school club co-advisor and Upper Academy co-lead. Other educational programs that he has been involved with include: designing and directing the Kauai Teacher Fellowship, serving as a member of the Leadership Institute, and opening the AP program to all Kauai High School students. Mr. Medeiros has not only achieved certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, but has become an advocate and leader for National Board certification.
