We are educators striving to improve education in Hawaii.
Since 1921, the Hawaii Education Association (HEA) has brought together teachers, professors, school administrators and supporters to spark improvements in education for all educators and students statewide.
Today, we are devoted to stimulating innovation in education and providing professional development so that Hawaii’s teachers can be the best that they can be. We promote the joy and passion of the teaching profession, and we inspire and support those who desire to achieve excellence in the career of education.
This year no election will take place because the number of nominees equal the vacancies on the HEA Board of Directors.

The 100th Infantry Battalion 80th Anniversary Student Project
This year, Hawaii’s 100th Infantry Battalion (separate), which was formed in June 1942, celebrates its 80th anniversary. There are many events being planned to commemorate this important milestone.
The Nisei Veterans Legacy (NVL) and the Military Intelligence Service Education Society of Hawaii (MIS Hawaii) are supporting the 100th Infantry Battalion 80th Anniversary Commemoration Committee with promoting these events. The first event is a student project.
Scholarships for Current and Future Teachers
HEA has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships over the years. We offer many types of scholarships to assist public school teachers, student teachers, college students, and graduating high school seniors with professional development, Hawaii State Department of Education licensing or certification, preparing for a student teaching semester, and undergraduate and graduate college degrees.

Hawaii State Teachers Association - Retired (HSTA-Retired)
The Hawaii State Teachers Association - Retired (HSTA-Retired) was established by the HSTA and partners with HEA to provide scholarships to in-service educators who are HSTA members with baccalaureate degrees.
Education Institute of Hawaii (EIH)
The Education Institute of Hawaii (EIH) is an education think tank focused on school empowerment and fiscal transparency.
The Hawaii Foundation for Educators (HFE)
The Hawaii Foundation for Educators (HFE) builds robust professional development and training opportunities for teachers to develop their practice in the classroom. This effort is an integral part of the Hawaii State Teachers Association (HSTA) initiative to combat Hawaii’s teacher shortage.
