Privacy Policy for the Hawaii Education Association

The Hawaii Education Association (HEA) places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This policy was created to demonstrate the HEA’s firm commitment to the privacy of our members and website users. This policy explains: (1) what personal information we collect about you, both online via the HEA website and HEA Intranet and offline via traditional, hard copy forms; (2) how we use that information; (3) what choices are available to you regarding such information collection; and, (4) what security we use to protect such information.

Personal Information Collected
Any personal information that you provide to us is voluntary. HEA members may update their personal information at any time. For information on how to contact us, please visit the HEA website at: https://www.hawaiieducationassociation.org.

We may collect personal information about you from the following sources:

• Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us on your membership application and other HEA forms (online via the HEA website or HEA Intranet or offline via traditional, hard copy forms such as your name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, social security number, etc.) We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send you e-mail alerts, to answer your requests and to process forms and applications you submit.

• Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us via the HEA website or HEA Intranet such as an e-mail address if you subscribe to an HEA-produced electronic newsletter or other personal information contained in an e-mail that you send to us via the feedback feature of the HEA website). You may always “opt out” either now or at any time in the future if you do not wish to receive our messages (see “Option Out” below).

• The HEA uses your IP address only when submitted with a form, to register for an event or course, or when you create a user ID on our website.

• The HEA uses “cookie” messages to automatically provide better services. They remind us of who you are and what your preferences are for our website based on what you’ve done and told us before. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you are particularly interested in. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly.

• Personal Information that we receive from third parties such as insurance claim information.

 

How Your Information May be Used by HEA
The personal information that HEA collects about you helps us to provide personalized service; to efficiently and effectively represent you and provide you with valuable member benefits.

The HEA does not provide, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone outside the organization. Any and all information received via electronic, written or oral communications with our members is confidential, and will not be sold, shared or traded with other entities. We do not store any financial data including credit card and bank account numbers. Individually identifying contact information which users voluntarily provide to HEA – including names, mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses – may be used for HEA’s administrative, marketing and other statistical analysis purposes.

Monetary transactions are processed through a third-party service provider who is expected to maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for personal information collected through our website. HEA do not authorize them to use or disclose personal information for their own marketing or other purposes.

External Links
The HEA’s website may contain links to external websites. These links do not fall under the HEA web domain and the HEA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites. Your use of external links is solely at your own risk.

Opting Out
If you subscribe to any HEA-produced electronic newsletter, you may cancel your subscription at any time by following the instructions at the bottom of all such newsletters. If you have any problems canceling such a subscription, please contact us at hea.office@hawaiieducationassociation.org.

Information Security
HEA maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to: (1) insure the security and confidentiality of your personal information; (2) protect against any anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of such information; and (3) protect against unauthorized access to or use of such information.

Modifications
We may amend this policy from time to time. Please review it periodically. HEA retains the right to modify this policy at any time by an electronic notice posted on the HEA website. Your continued use of the website after the date that such notices are posted will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
