Aloha!
Happy New Year and welcome to the Year of the Wood Dragon! Wood holds special significance — it symbolizes our desire to achieve, progress, grow, and expand. That’s exactly what HEA plans for this year!
Ending 2023 on High Note
We wrapped up 2023 on high note with our Leadership Summit and Educator Workshop on artificial intelligence and ethics in December, featuring keynote speakers Fred Lane and Dr. Troy Hutchings. The sessions provided Hawai‘i educators and administrators with new insights and ways to incorporate artificial intelligence in education. We were pleased with the great response to these annual sessions.
Continuing the Positive Momentum
This year, we’re continuing the exciting momentum. We have already scheduled follow-up webinars with our expert speakers to kick off the new year, including a joint session with both Fred and Troy on Tuesday, March 5. Be sure to register through the HEA website.
Coming Soon: Professional Development Credits
The HEA board of directors also voted to take a major leap forward.
Lynn Hammonds, Ph.D., HEA’s program manager, is exploring how we can provide professional development credits for those who attend HEA’s educational sessions. We are already planning to offer more sessions on artificial intelligence in July 2024, and your participation in these sessions will allow you to earn professional development credits.
Support for Your Career
HEA continues to encourage and inspire young students to choose teaching as a career, and we also know it’s important to encourage those who are already educators by giving them resources to succeed. Our educational sessions not only help educators to be better equipped for the classroom, but also help educators to earn the credits they need for pay increases.
This provides an even greater return for the time you invest in attending these sessions!
Mahalo for allowing HEA to be your partner We’re excited about our plans for 2024 and glad to be supporting Hawaii’s educators!
