Aloha Members!
It has now been over a year since our lives were turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have since learned a new way of life and adjusted to a new set of routines. Although the changes we have faced over the last year have definitely been challenging, I have enjoyed watching the rain transform the plants and hills of Diamond Head into a brighter shade of green.
Now, I look forward to watching HEA transform into a new, brighter version of itself as well.
This year, HEA is celebrating 100 years of advancing education in Hawaii. HEA has a long and rich history of supporting teachers throughout the state and with the help of our new partner, Olomana Loomis ISC, we will be undergoing a transformation so we can best provide teachers with the connection, support and resources they need to ensure the future of education in Hawaii is a bright one.
You may have noticed that our quarterly newsletter has been refreshed. Formerly known as Accent Hawaii, the new Educator Connection newsletter features more stories about remarkable local educators and the many initiatives that are underway at HEA. We hope you enjoy this special 100th anniversary edition of Educator Connection, which includes a two-page timeline of the significant milestones and achievements in HEA’s history.
As a member of HEA, thank you for your commitment to supporting teachers, and for your dedication to the advancement of education in Hawaii. We truly couldn’t do this important work without you.
Keep well!
June Motokawa
Board President, 2020-2021
