A Message from the President – Q3 2021

August 5, 2021

Aloha!

I hope that this letter finds you well and thriving! As many have said the “light is getting bigger and bigger at the end of the tunnel” with nearly 70% of Hawaii’s population vaccinated.

As our students and teachers will be entering in-person classrooms at the beginning of the new school year, I decided to talk to some of my teacher friends and have found some wanting to enjoy the summer without thinking of school as of yet. Others have said there is a mix of trepidation, excitement, and nervousness.

Amid this environment, the HEA board members are seeking ways to further support our teachers and school level administrators. We have many great ideas and thus are looking for a Program Manager to help with a plan and implementation. We have been reviewing candidates, and will hire when the funding has been secured for the position. Our new fiscal year began on July 1st, and we are fully focused on our goal to support teachers as they shape Hawaii’s future today, in a post-pandemic world.

Thank you always as a friend and member of the HEA. Thank you for your contributions and notes of support! You are appreciated!

June Motokawa
Board President, 2020-2021

A Message from the President: Greetings from the School Zone!

As 2024 comes to close and we prepare to begin a new year, I would like to thank the HEA board, staff, and all our members for their support this past  year. It’s hard to believe another year has gone by already.
